my tumblelog

February 26, 2007

i started a tumblelog here.

if you aren’t familiar with tumblelogs, go here.

if you would like to start one without doing much work, go here.

i think this may be beneficial in supplementing my blog.  i think this may solve two problems for me:

1. i have lots of little things that i run into all day that i’d like to share
2. i constantly feel guilty for neglecting my blog.

from now on i’ll be using the tumblelog to post little bits on information (like a scrapbook) and the blog for longer form, more complete ideas (like a journal).

i know that it seems a bit annoying to have multiple weblogs, especially for a reader.  i would suggest subscribing to the feeds of whichever of my sites (and there are more than you think) you are interested in, because typing url’s is very 2003.

also, i think i may be creating a new homepage…sort of a landing place for all of my little spots on the web.  if i do, it will be here at joshcooksucks.com.

to come soon:  last weekend’s retreat to a monastery.

things on my mind right now:

i received a free fon in the mail the other day.  i don’t have an ethernet connection to plug it into, but as soon as i do i’ll be a fonera

i am very excited about going to bolivia this summer.  i applied for my passport yesterday.

i just watched the latest episode of heroes.  it was really good.  that’s the first show i’ve really been into in a long, long time.

i can’t stop listening to the decemberists’ “the crane wife”.  really great record.

friday through sunday i’ll be on personal retreat at the trappist monastery in conyers.  it will be my first one and i’m really excited.

i like it when micah’s home.  i like it just because he’s around, but its also nice because when he’s home, lots of people are at the house.

we’re watching the oscars at my house.  if you’re reading this then you’re welcome to come!

last year i recorded three episodes of a podcast called “atlanta’s new christian” with my friends joel and derek.  we had lofty goals, but got busy and stopped recording.  then joel went on a three month road trip, etc…needless to say time got away from us.

joel and i were able to catch up and record again, and it was very fun.  you can listen here.  i’ll create a feed and get us up on the itunes store once we have a name.  (by the way, and ideas?)

in this episode we discuss new atheism, jay bakker’s tv show, homosexuality and the bible, the importance of theology and church splits.  enjoy!

ps- i was just listening and heard myself say “we should be swimming against the grain”…talk about your mixed metaphors…

buckling spring keyboard

February 7, 2007

do you remember those old beige and gray keyboards?  the really ugly ones that made the clicky sound?  i really like those keyboards.  i mean, i really, really like them, and i’m happy to announce that my friend joel scored one for me today.  its not one of the old ibm model m’s (it’s actually a dell) but its a lot better than any other keyboard on campus, i will assure of that.

i’ve already seen a vast improvement in my typing speed and accuracy.  isn’t it funny that a piece of computer equipment thats old is actually better than the new stuff?
