henry johnson

May 29, 2006

henry johnson wrote code for a living, but he could never do much else
he said that he was married, but lived in an apartment by himself
he never made any friends at work, but he was the best at what he did
he wrote faster than anyone else around, ever since he was a kid

he'd outlived his days at work, some say by his wit
others said he was the kind of guy who didn't know when to quit.
he'd seen booms and he'd seen busts, but he'd always seen them through
but they said there was something coming down the line that was altogether new

henry went home that night, knowing he was done
he took off his wedding band, and thought as he grabbed his gun
“they'll bury me in white sands, and as the trains go by
people will say ‘there was a man who knew it was time to die’”

henry was a code man, he'd been one all his life
he was never good at much else, if you were to ask his wife
she left him with the bills, but took his kids away
he slept alone at night, and wrote his code by day

i have had a bad week. i'm not so good at telling people when i have bad weeks. if you see me, give me a hug. it will help.

i finally downloaded the beta of office 2007. right off the bat i found it to be really easy to create some cool looking documents in word. i liked the ribbon, and the contextual toolbars (like picture formatting tools that are only there when you highlight a picture…clever).  outlook looked cluttered. excel didn't work with a file that my friend john created in open office's calc 2.0 (a spreadsheet program from an open source office suite), so that was frustrating.

i highly reccomend downloading it though…it's a three hundred dollar program for free. no too shabby, huh?

i finally got the trial episode of the ANC podcast up. if you stumble onto this site, check it out and let me know what you think.

atlanta’s new christian

can it be true? maybe. read about it here.

finally star wars on dvd without the lame digital crap. its a lot better than searching for torrents of old laser disc rips (like my dedicated friend jonathan.)

life is defined by change. so i guess its safe to say that life is happening right now.

i'm sad to say that my boss/co-worker/friend loyd is moving very far away. i'll miss him, as well as his wife and my great friend, christy, and their beautiful children very much.

i'm thankful for the memories we share. i cherish the years we spent in service to the students at CORE. we shared in building something beautiful, and it's impossible to quantify the bond that creates between people.

i have more to say, but i think i'll save it for a more personal avenue.
